Thinning Hair? You Have Options.

Salon Evolve has been helping clients in Montgomery County address hair thinning and density loss for over 20 years.

If you've been noticing more hair in the shower drain, a part that looks wider than it used to, or a ponytail that feels thinner between your fingers, you are not alone — and you don't have to figure it out on your own. At Salon Evolve in Royersford, PA, we take hair thinning seriously. Our team offers a full spectrum of solutions: from scalp therapy treatments that address the root causes of hair loss, to volume-adding extensions and toppers that restore your confidence while your scalp heals, to professional retail products that support the work we do in the salon between visits.

Thinning hair has many causes — hormonal shifts, postpartum changes, stress, nutritional gaps, scalp buildup, age, or the cumulative effect of years of heat and chemical processing. The right approach depends on your specific situation, which is why we always begin with a conversation. Every client's hair is different, and every solution we recommend is personalized.

Why Is My Hair Thinning?  What's Actually Happening

Hair thinning rarely has a single cause, and it rarely fixes itself without some intervention. Here are the most common reasons our clients come to us:

Cause 1 — Scalp Buildup & Congestion

When product residue, excess oil, and dead skin cells accumulate on the scalp, they can clog hair follicles and create an environment where hair grows back thinner or more slowly. This is one of the most overlooked contributors to thinning-and one of the most treatable. Regular scalp cleansing, exfoliation, and our YUME Head Spa treatments directly address this.

Cause 2 — Reduced Scalp Circulation

Blood flow to the scalp delivers oxygen and nutrients to hair follicles. Chronic stress, tension, and a sedentary lifestyle can reduce circulation over time. Therapeutic scalp massage — the kind performed during our YUME Signature and Revive treatments — is specifically designed to stimulate blood flow and nourish follicles at the source.

Cause 3 — Hormonal Changes

Postpartum hair loss, perimenopause, thyroid changes, and hormonal fluctuations are among the leading causes of sudden or progressive thinning in women. While hormonal hair loss often requires medical attention alongside salon care, our scalp therapy and supportive retail products can help manage shedding, improve scalp health, and maintain the appearance of fullness during treatment.

Cause 4 — Stress-Related Shedding

Telogen effluvium — shedding triggered by a stressful event 2 to 4 months prior — is extremely common and often misidentified as permanent hair loss. If you've experienced a major illness, surgery, loss, or period of prolonged stress and noticed increased shedding weeks later, this is likely the cause. The good news: it's typically reversible. Scalp therapy and the right home care routine can support recovery.

Cause 5 — Damage & Breakage

Heat, chemical services, tight styling, and mechanical stress (brushing, ponytails) cause breakage that mimics thinning. Hair isn't actually falling from the root — it's snapping at the shaft. Our restorative bond repair treatments and conditioning protocols address this directly and can make a significant difference in overall density and length retention.

Not sure which applies to you? That's exactly what a scalp analysis consultation is for. Our team will assess your scalp health, identify contributing factors, and build a plan that addresses your specific situation — not a generic one.

In-Salon Solutions for Thinning Hair

Service 1 — YUME Head Spa

Our most powerful tool for scalp health and hair growth support. The YUME Head Spa combines deep scalp cleansing, exfoliation, therapeutic massage using Japanese pressure-point techniques, and customized treatment serums — all performed on the YUME bed, a zero-gravity reclining system with a signature waterfall rinse.

For clients experiencing thinning, we recommend starting with the Revive (90 min, $255), which includes a personalized scalp analysis and premium follicle-nourishing treatments. The Signature (60 min, $195) is an excellent ongoing maintenance treatment, and the Refresh (30 min, $75) makes a powerful add-on to your regular salon visit.

Best for: buildup-related thinning, stress-related shedding, scalp inflammation, postpartum hair loss, general scalp health maintenance.

Service 2 — Scalp Analysis Consultation

Not sure where to start? A scalp analysis consultation is the right first step. Our specialists will assess your scalp condition — checking for buildup, dryness, inflammation, oiliness, and follicle health — and provide a clear, personalized recommendation for which services and home care products will be most effective for your specific situation.

A $50 consultation deposit is required, which can be applied toward any service you choose to book.

Best for: clients who are new to scalp care, unsure of the cause of their thinning, or wanting a professional assessment before committing to a treatment plan.

Service 3 — Hair Extensions & Toppers

Sometimes the most empowering thing you can do while working on your scalp health is to restore your confidence in the mirror right now. Our hair extension and topper services add immediate volume, length, and density using 100% human hair that blends seamlessly with your natural hair.

For clients with thinning hair specifically, we offer:

  • EasiHair Pro Strand Extensions
Individual strand placement ideal for adding density throughout the hair, particularly at the crown and sides. Priced by consultation.

  • Custom Sew-In Wefts
Gentle weft attachment using small beads, with no glue or heat at the attachment point. Excellent for clients who want fullness without stress on existing hair. Priced by consultation.

  • Hair Toppers
Clip-in pieces that sit at the crown and top of the head, designed specifically for clients with noticeable thinning at the part or top of the scalp. Ask about topper options at your consultation.

Important: extensions are a complement to scalp therapy, not a replacement. We can discuss how to use both together effectively at your consultation.

Service 4 — Restorative Treatments

If your thinning is related to damage and breakage rather than scalp health, our restorative treatments — including bond repair and deep conditioning protocols — rebuild the internal structure of each hair strand, reducing future breakage and improving the overall appearance of density and thickness.

These work best as a complement to your cut and color services. Ask your stylist about adding a restorative treatment at your next appointment.
